iFollo.com's influence on the NFL coaching carousel

Brad ChildressDuring this very topsy-turvy 2010 NFL season, two of the preeminent storylines have involved the disappointing play of the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys. As a result of this collective underachievement, both of the teams’ head coaches have been relieved of their duties prior to season’s end. Monday, Vikings owner Zygi Wilf gave Brad Childress his walking papers and two weeks ago, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones sacked Wade Phillips.

Besides all the obvious football related shortcomings, one amazing coincidence involves the two former coaches’ connection to iFollo.com

CMA Red Carpet 2010

The stars were out in full force for this year's Country Music Awards! The fashion was amazing too. Here are a few pics of the highlights on the red carpet.

Dave Matthews...Free Concert...Front Row...Is There Anything Else To Be Said?

Yesterday at 3:30pm, I got word on Facebook that Dave Matthews was going to be playing at the Microsoft Store opening in Bellevue, Washington.  Since I am a huge Dave Matthews fan, I couldn't pass this up.  When I got there at 4:00pm there were probably 50 people waiting to see Dave.  I mean I was three hours early, but I got to watch from the front row!  By the time the clock hit 7:00pm, there must have been 3,000+.  After the three hours of standing, Dave Matthews finally came on stage and this turned into the best day ever.  I recorded the entire show on my iPhone and met a bunch of new people who were also huge Dave fans.  Any Free Concert that Dave plays...I am there!

And The Winner Is....

surferwife and chelsea handler

The winner of our September/October Encounter Story contest is "It Took Everything NOT To Lick Chelsea Handler" by Surferwife.

This entry had it all:  Photos, a detailed narrative, an intriguing title, and, most importantly...TONS of views!

It's a great story to begin with, but Surferwife also helped her odds by getting it shared and retweeted through her twitter and FB networks.

The Kurt Warner effect felt in AZ & STL

Kurt WarnerTuesday night, retired NFL quarterback Kurt Warner was eliminated from this season’s edition of “Dancing with the Stars.”  Warner and dancing partner Anna Trebunskaya were sent home as the show trimmed its list of competitors to a final four.  While this is considered big news in the reality TV world, within the sphere of pro football, it’s interesting to note the lack of news that emanates from a team after Warner moves on from their roster.

Jared Allen needs to bring back the mullet lifestyle

Jared Allen“The mullet isn’t just a hairdo, it is definitely a lifestyle.”

Prior to the 2010 season, this quote was the all-encompassing credo of Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen. For the last several years, the gregarious All-Pro boastfully paraded his signature style on the gridiron, in the media and throughout his private life, both in Minnesota and while at his offseason home in Scottsdale, Arizona. This level of bravado made him one of the most feared players in all of pro football.

Giants 2010 home opener proved to be a harbinger of October

San Francisco GiantsAs the San Francisco Giants celebrate their first world championship since 1954, it’s interesting to look back at the team’s home opener to consider how April optimism morphed into October glory.

In what seems like forever ago, the April 9 game vs. the Atlanta Braves opened with a spectacular F-18 flyover on a perfect San Francisco day.

The pre-game festivities continued with a memorable ceremonial first pitch thrown by 49ers legend Jerry Rice to 49ers great Steve Young. After catching the ball from behind home plate, Young sent Rice out for a pattern and subsequently hit him with a deep baseball toss. What a way to start a season!
