Even though he seems uninterested in a long awaited showdown with Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather has maintained his career unbeaten streak. Last week, he won again. 

A Las Vegas district court judge dismissed a lawsuit filed by nightclub bouncer Clay Gerling, against Floyd Jr. and his entourage, for an incident at Bill's Gamblin' Hall on the Las Vegas strip. 

Apparently, Gerling had the unmitigated gall to ask the fellows for their identification. Soon after, a choke hold was placed on Gerling by Mayweather's bodyguard. 

Floyd remains unbeaten in 41 bouts and in his recent courtroom battle as well.  Hopefully, he will now put his streak on the line versus Pacquiao, instead of continuing to avoid fighting him. 

The Americans may not have done well at the British Open, Wimbledon, or the Tour de France, but the country did clean up in one recent overseas event.  

At this year's World Beard and Moustache Championships in Trondheim, Norway, Craig “Rooty” Lundvall of South Everett, Washington won the full beard competition and Burke Kenny of Olympia, Washington placed first in the natural full beard with styled moustache category.

The state of Washington must be beaming with pride. 

Americans also won competitions in the imperial moustache, Hungarian moustache and freestyle sideburns divisions.    

As has been widely reported, the Minnesota Vikings are on the verge of acquiring Donovan McNabb from the Washington Redskins. McNabb will presumably be the Vikings opening day starter for the 2011 season.

It is interesting to note that this could be the third consecutive season that McNabb is the opening day starter for a different team (Eagles '09, Redskins '10 and “presumably” the Vikings '11).

The last quarterback to do that is the guy McNabb is replacing in Minnesota, Brett Favre (Packers '07, Jets '08 and Vikings '09).

Perhaps home plate umpire Jerry Meals got it right; more likely he screwed it up.  The bottom line is that Atlanta got a 19 inning win over Pittsburgh Tuesday, when Julio Lugo was called safe at home, even though the throw clearly beat him to the plate. Check out the incredible video.

The real problem is that baseball lags far behind other sports in the use of modern technology.  A modified instant replay system could rule on controversial calls accurately and rapidly.  A manager should be allowed a video replay challenge every game.
