Welcome To The SEC Hugh Freeze

Hugh Freeze and Ole Miss 2012 football scheduleMaybe Hugh Freeze did not know what he was getting into?

Freeze was hired as the head coach at Mississippi earlier this month, after one year at Arkansas State. He is best known as the longtime coach at Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis, where he coached Michael Oher, the inspiration for the best-selling book and popular movie "The Blind Side."

The 2012 SEC schedule was recently released and Ole Miss (Oher’s alma mater) drew road games at Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia and LSU, with home games against Texas A&M, Texas, Auburn and instate rival Mississippi State.

Welcome to the SEC Hugh!

Betty White Drawing Comparisons To Brett Favre?

Betty White and Monday Night Football 89-year-old Betty White handled the introduction on ESPN’s final Monday Night Football game of the season, an easy 45-16 victory by the New Orleans Saints over the Atlanta Falcons.

Steve Schrader of the Detroit Free Press added: “She (White) last played football in her Snickers commercial and she's 89, which makes her the oldest performer on "MNF" since Brett Favre.”

RG3 Is Talented On & Off The Field

Robert Griffin III on Late Show with David LettermanThursday night, Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III and his Baylor Bears take on the Washington Huskies at the Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio. This matchup will in all likelihood be the final college game for RG3, as the redshirt junior will almost certainly declare for April’s NFL Draft.

As the multidimensional QB suits up one last time, we at iFollowSports wanted to remind college football fans of the 6-2 gunslinger's comedic side.

Three days after winning the Heisman, the Baylor star made an appearance on the “Late Show with David Letterman,” participating in the "Top Ten" segment.

Two of RG3's best scripted lines were:  "And everyone laughed when I asked Santa for a Heisman" and "How long before Kim Kardashian calls?”

Bears Defense Deprives Fans Of Free Cars

Sawicki Motors Bears promotionSawicki Motors in Rochelle, Illinois advertised an unusual promotion for Christmas---free cars!
If customers purchased a new car from Sawicki last week and the Bears shut out Green Bay Sunday night, winners would receive a full refund on their transaction. Sawicki would do this for the first $ 1 million worth of vehicles sold.

Alas, Aaron Rodgers threw five touchdowns to ruin the hopes of numerous Bears fans in Rochelle.

Final score:  Packers 35  Bears 21  free cars 0.

Breen & Van Gundy’s Crazy Christmas Day Of Travel

Breen & Van Gundy’s Crazy Christmas Day Of TravelChristmas Day, the NBA regular season finally debuted with a slate of five games. The riveting day of hoops included late game heroics from Carmelo Anthony and Derrick Rose, a ring ceremony/butt whooping in Dallas and Chris Paul’s Clipper debut at Golden State.

In addition to these impressive on court feats, the league’s 2011-2012 premiere also involved a remarkable achievement at the broadcast table, centered around the idea of witnessing a historic rematch and the coaching debut of a very close friend.

Simpson’s Season Involves Memorable Touchdown & Criminal Investigation

Jerome Simpson touchdown and marijuanaYou may have already seen this video, but even if you have, it is certainly worth seeing again.

The Cincinnati Bengals needed a win over the Arizona Cardinals to keep their postseason hopes alive. While running a crossing pattern, wide receiver Jerome Simpson fielded Andy Dalton's pass and headed toward the end zone. Waiting at the goal line was Arizona linebacker Daryl Washington, but that was no problem for Simpson, who somersaulted over Washington, landing perfectly on two feet.

The Bengals held on for the victory 23-16.

Canadian Baseball Team Inspired By Jack The Ripper?

London Rippers controversyThe baseball team in London, Ontario, Canada is a new entry in the independent Frontier League, a 14- team circuit in the US and Canada, whose 2012 season begins in mid-May. When London unveiled their new logo and nickname recently, sparks flew immediately, especially with women's groups.

The image on the poster introducing the London Rippers bears a strong resemblance to the notorious English serial killer Jack the Ripper, complete with top hat and dagger. No one believes that the Ripper, who is named Jack, is not based on the London murderer, who terrorized the British capital in the 1890s, stalking and brutalizing women.

A Toronto sports marketer named Richard Powers notes that the team is naive to think they did not have Jack the Ripper in mind when the logo was designed.

A Lofty Goal For Christmas Consumers Of Food

Sonya “Black Widow” Thomas ate 10-pound turkey in 10 minutesAs folks gather together for Christmas dinner, we at iFollowSports wanted to look back to a competition that took place at the beginning of the holiday season, a couple days prior to Thanksgiving.

Our hope is that this recap of an unbelievably contested turkey eating competition will provide the Christmas eater with a little something to shoot for.

The Wild Turkey Eating World Championship took place in Manhattan last month, featuring Sonya “Black Widow” Thomas, Eric “Badlands” Booker and four other competitive eaters.

Thomas, who weighs only 105 pounds, easily out-gluttoned Booker, who outweighs her by more than 300 pounds. Thomas downed almost the entire 10-pound bird in 10 minutes.
