Rhein Gibson shoots 55A golfer shot a 69 at the River Oaks Golf Club in Edmond, Oklahoma, yet lost to his playing partner by 14 strokes!

Rhein Gibson, a 26-year-old Australian, shot 29 on the front nine and 26 coming back. His round included 12 birdies, 2 eagles, 4 pars and zero bogeys. It is believed to be the lowest round in golf history, 16 under par. 

Gibson, who attended nearby Oklahoma Christian University, was familiar with River Oaks, having played the course many times in the past.

Sturgess, who hails from Loughborough, England, played two seasons at Mountain State, an NAIA school in West Virginia. "Tiny" stands 7-8 and weighs 325 pounds. He is listed by Guinness as the world's tallest basketball player. 

As a 5-6, 14-year-old, Sturgess’ focus was on the sports of soccer and golf.  His stunning growth spurt began when he turned 15.

Now 24, Sturgess wears a size 22 shoe. He was "drafted" by the Globetrotters in August of 2011, along with Andrew Goudelock, who now plays with the Lakers.

Eric Veglahn five strikeouts in one inningLa Crescent High School (MN) pitcher Eric Veglahn set a record that will not be broken any time soon. 

Pitching against Hayfield High, the lefthander struck out five batters in just the seventh inning. His five K inning was "aided" by two passed balls by his catcher. 

This feat had been previously achieved only four times in baseball history---three times in the minors and once during a spring training game.  

Veglahn has a season record of 8-1, with an ERA of 1.47.

 

Women In The Ukraine Stage Unusual Soccer Protest

women remove shirts at Euro 2012 trophy protestThe UEFA Football Championship will take place in Poland and the Ukraine, during the month of June. The event, which is held every four years, will feature such continental powerhouse teams as Spain, Germany, Italy and England. 

Recently, the Euro 2012 trophy was on tour in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev, when it was attacked by a group of female protesters, concerned about an expected increase in prostitution and sex tourism during the tournament. 

The women removed their shirts, revealing a crude message on their torsos that read "F_ _ _  Euro 2012".

The ladies then tried to grab the cup.

Police quickly rescued the trophy and arrested the women on charges of hooliganism.

Tommy Rees arrestedTommy Rees started 12 games at quarterback for Notre Dame last season and was presumed to do the same during the upcoming 2012 season. However, that may have changed because of a recent arrest and stint in jail.

After the final day of spring practice, several Irish players were at an off-campus party. Police were called because of a noise issue and that is when Rees sprung into action. 

The 20-year-old jumped a backyard fence and tried to run away from an officer. The officer ran him down, so Rees in turn kneed and knocked the wind out of the policeman. The QB was subsequently pepper-sprayed and handcuffed. 

Rees was jailed on charges of public intoxication by a minor, battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.

Cleveland is last in all of baseball, averaging a home crowd of less than 16,000, in a venue that holds more than 43,000. 

"It's just a slap in the face when you're last in attendance. Last. It's not like we're 25th or 26th. We're last. Oakland is out-drawing us. That's embarrassing," explained Perez.

The Indians are off to a hot start this season, leading the AL Central by 3.5 games, entering Wednesday’s game versus the Detroit Tigers.

The aforementioned Athletics are averaging under 19,000 spectators at home, so far in 2012, with the surprising Baltimore Orioles drawing only a little more than 22,000.

Bayern dominated play throughout, finally breaking the scoreless tie late, only to see Chelsea equalize on a header by Didier Drogba, with two minutes remaining.

There was no scoring in the 30 minutes of extra time that followed.
