Conan O'Brien to End 'Tonight Show' This Week?
Conan O'Brien is preparing for what will all but certainly be his final week as host of The Tonight Show.
People magazine is reporting this weekend that "Conan O'Brien's last night as host of The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien will likely be next Friday."
"Conan does not currently plan on doing any more new shows after next week,” says the source.
The timing makes sense for NBC, which has been planning a hiatus for late night ahead of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
Previously, NBC announced that The Jay Leno Show would end February 12th.
Last week, Conan O'Brien all but pounded the final nail into his Tonight Show coffin by stating in a public letter that he could not agree to a time slot bump to 12:05 am EST just to accommodate a half-hour weeknight version of The Jay Leno Show.
"I cannot participate in what I honestly believe is [The Tonight Show's] destruction," wrote O'Brien.
As it now stands, NBC is preparing for a January 22nd conclusion of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien.
