It was the meeting few ever thought possible: Lady Gaga and the Queen of England. But Lady Gaga was among the performers tapped to entertain at the UK's Royal Variety Performance.

As a result of the Queen's presence, Lady Gaga wasn't up to her usual tricks, although she would have been if not for the stern warnings of event organizers who wouldn't let the "Bad Romance" singer pull off a suicide reenactment with the Queen watching.

"I wanted to do the suicide scene I did at the MTV Awards but I was told it wouldn't be appropriate. And not only has that been vetoed, but I have had to tone down my act generally," Lady Gaga was later quoted.

"All of that doesn't matter because I'm a massive fan of the Queen - I was so excited and have even been practicing my curtsy. When I first came up with what I was doing, I said, 'Oh my God, I hope she likes it!'," added Lady Gaga.
