I was working for Cumulus Ann Arbor, WTKA Sports Talk, covering a University of Michigan Health Center Golf outing, with all proceeds going to the C.S Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mi, and Anthony Thomas a U of M alum, was there to play in the Coach Lloyd Carr sponsored event.
My job was to interview all the players and coaches throughout the day, some of the best in the NFL, including Charles Woodson, and Thomas. Anthony was friendly, and hip, also patient of my lack of NFL knowledge.
Thomas, like other U of M players, had spent alot of time at the Children's Hospital when he was playing for the Wolverines, he was very knowledgeable about the hospital's goings on, meaning to me he took the time to research, and wasn't just doing it for the publicity.
The funny thing is everyone that knows me, knows I know jack about football, I was actually the News Director, and the 4 station cluster that I worked for found itself with no staff, as they had all recently quit. In a last minute panic they tapped me. I had some 18 yr. old intern standing behind me the entire time, telling me the names of the players, and all the questions to ask, the players must have thought I was an idiot with some kid leaning over and whispering in my ear every minute.
