I was underneath at Angel Stadium after the USA was knocked out of the 2006 World Baseball Classic by Mexico.  As the American players were leaving the locker-room, I got stuck in the middle of a conversation between Alex Rodriguez, Cynthia, his wife at the time and his agent Scott Boras.  The conversation quickly moved away from baseball and into a Pepsi commercial Rodriguez would be shooting the next day in LA.  They also spoke about how AROD and Derek Jeter would be flying back to the Yankees spring training facility in Tampa later the next day, after the shoot.  It’s funny to look back at that conversation, considering all the revelations that have come out regarding AROD in the years since.  Whether it is steroids, divorce and accusations of infidelity or him finally breaking through and winning the World Series, much has happened since that day.  As it turns out, AROD was probably carrying a lot more baggage than just the criticism he was receiving for not performing in the clutch.  It was a unique experience to be right in the middle of this group on that given day.  Who knew the soap opera that would ensue?
