Let me start by saying this. I WAS a huge Blink 182 fan, I loved their music, thought their irreverance in interviews was humorous...a group that didn't take themselves too seriously. At te same time, as a DJ I have a job to deliver compelling content to the audience about a band we play.
Turns out, Blink 182 while part of the era that ushered in TRL on MTV were against pop radio airplay. It happens with some rock bands. The fact that they create songs and play instruments all while being played after a Britney Spears song, they find it insulting.
I had the opportunity to sit down with them on during a tour stop in Hartford. If you read some of my other postings, I like to give artists the benefit of the doubt. Some have a bad day or just aren't feeling well. Fact of the matter was it wasn't just my interview they came off like that. Two stations which talked to him after were just as furious at ow they approached the interview.
Fact of the matter is radio stations support artists which in turn exposes the general public to their music and relays into sales whether it be downloads or cd sales.
During the interview, Travis had a broken foot...but still no excuse to act like you are too big to be interviewed. I definetly deem this my worst interview. It was so bad, I didn't even stick around to take a photo with them.
Everytime a Blink song comes on, I tell my friends this story and how unfortunate a situation it was. All The Small Things was my favorite song at the time...too bad their egos weren't small.
