In November of 2006, a good friend of mine hooked me up with tickets to a professional wrestling event taking place in my hometown of Valparaiso. Indiana.

After enjoying all the action at a live World Wrestling Entertainment event, my buddy and I headed out for a bite at a nearby restaurant to unwind. Incredibly, as soon as we entered the establishment, we realized that a number of stars from the WWE had also selected this location to dine.

So I pulled up a chair at the bar (no, I didn't hit him with it) and then hunkered down next to wrestling supertsar Ric Flair. I must have looked like a giddy child because Flair asked if I had attended the event without my having even said one word.

Within moments, the ice was broken and years of childhood memories were spilling out of me. Despite probably making Flair feel like my own personal shrink, the WWE legend bought multiple rounds of drinks for myself, my buddy, and, eventually, a few other fans who gathered at the bar upon recognizing Flair.

How a professional wrestler could be as gracious, classy, intelligent, and sophisticated as Ric Flair is perpetually befuddles me. But Ric Flair is a one of a kind athlete and a fun guy to kick back a few beers with.
