Nashville Star was a hit TV show for a few years, a competion show much along the lines of an American Idol...on country music though. In 2003 a "not so young" (by industry standards) Buddy Jewell won Nashville Star, and a major record contract.
I spoke of the phone with Buddy after his win, as his first single was climbing the charts (went #1). I could relate to Buddy in some way, since we are both about the same age.
Each summer while in Nashville, I'd run into Buddy at one charity or another. Country music artists (IMO) are the most charitable of any celebrities I know. Country music artists are always being asked to be involved in some charity / fundraising. Some celebs, like Buddy Jewell seem to really embrace being able to do all they can.
This past June, during my annual summer trip to Nashville..for the annual CMA Music Festival, I stopped by Buddy's booth in the autograph hall.. to say "hello".
In the 7 years since we first met, both of us have come a long way, and had many changes changes in our lives. Several things are still constant with Buddy.. Still makes wonderful music, love for his family, friends and fans.. and he still has a charitable heart.
