The day before game 1 of the NBA Finals, I saw Lakers nemesis Cedric Maxwell eating in the outdoor area of the Farm in Beverly Hills. Being a Laker fan, I have a lot of bad memories of Mr. Maxwell. His performance in the ’84 Finals and his issues with James Worthy and Kurt Rambis come to mind. There’s no question where Maxwell’s loyalty lies amid the Lakers vs. Celtics rivalry.
Even though he’s in his mid 50’s, Maxwell looked tough and in solid shape. I doubt many people mess with the guy, despite him being out of the league for so long.
Seeing Maxwell really personalized the Finals and the rivalry even more so for me. Go Lakers!
