Let me take you back to one of the coolest moments / interviews in my radio career.  It was 2001, just before the most devistating day in American history...September 11th. 

Aaliyah had just passed away & was on the mind of Diddy and in his heart.  I remember it was one of the first questions I wanted to ask him.  Seeing as he lived through the death of one of his good friends Notorious B.I.G. so I definetly wanted to get his take on the death of a beautiful artist taken from us much too soon.  He said "God probably needed another angel" he said "I was stuttering in interviews because not only were we artists but friends.  His last memory was at the MTV Movie Awards and recognizing that she had grown into a beautiful woman because he had watched her grow up and the dance routine they did at the show."

The night we had him on the station he was going on TRL the next day and was on the Source Awards (taped earlier) on the TV behind us!  He was also sending & recieving faxes for album art for some of his other artists under the Bad Boy umbrella.

In the course of the interview, I surprised Diddy.  My assistant Dennis also worked at a restauant part time & brought in a brand new bottle of Cristal.  So during the interview we popped the bottle on the air.  We knew it was his drink of choice at the moment, so we drank like celebrities (in styrophome cups no less.)  He definetly didn't expect it!

This was also after the gun incident w/ J Lo when they were dating.  I tried to stay away from the super personal stuff because it tends to make the artist defensive.  We had a super good time and Diddy it was laid back & chill just like hanging with your friends having a conversation.

I aksed him to come up with a rapper name for me and he called me Stick Love because "You look like you've got that playboy type of vibe going on."  Yeah, real nice of him, wish his luck with the ladies rubbed off on me haha.

Overall had a great time w/ DIddy he is as advertised.  He is a positive person who is focused on his career and commited to being a solid person for his fans.
