The only thing I can remember from the PGA tour in 1998 at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Washington was seeing Tiger Woods from a distance. That was 11 years ago.
I was actually volunteering during the event as a score-keeper following the professional players around trying to keep the score-card sign accurate.
I saw many other pros and Vijh Singh won the tournament, but it was seeing Tiger from a distance that keeps my memory. He had a presence and a humble grace that was uniquely powerful. And he continued to inspire every time I saw him on TV. No wonder Accenture uses Tiger for ALL of their advertising.
I speak in past tense because now that we found out that he has been unfaithful to his wife, his power washes away and my memory of his greatness fades from a distance.
Certainly God can forgive, but will the public forgive him quickly since "everyone is doing it" or will this be a long term stain that people find hard to forget (like Bill Clinton's unfaithful drama). Must all of our heroes and leaders be unfaithful?
