I went to the premier of Confidence at Sundance in 2003 at the historical Egyptian Theatre in Park City.  I had another movie to attend so was planning on leaving right afterwards and not staying for the Q&A.  But after going to the bathroom, I decided to pop my head in and see what was happening in the Q&A.  Jim Foley (the director) was on the stage talking.  And when my eyes adjusted to the dark, I realized I was standing next to Dustin Hoffman, Rachel Weisz, Andy Garcia and Paul Giamatti.  I played it cool.

DH must have thought I was with Sundance, because he leaned over to me and asked how many people the theatre held.  Not wanting to sound stupid, I took a wild guess, but gave it with authority.  He nodded and mentioned what a great theatre it is.  (He's right--it's totally cool.)

Then Andy Garcia asked me what they were supposed to do.  I've been to a lot of Sundance movies, so I explained the drill to him--that Foley would call them down and they would go on stage and answer questions.  Sure enough, just a minute later that's what happened.  And then, a little devil in me thought--Hey , I could walk onstage with them.  They think I'm with Sundance and everyone else would think I'm with them movie.  Maybe I'd even jump in and answer a question.  But prudence got the best of me and I figured that would be hilarioius, but tacky.  Plus, I lost my nerve.

By the way, I saw Dustin again at that Sundance, at the premiere of Whale Rider.  He was standing two places ahead of me in line, with the rest of us non-celebs, waiting to congratulate director Niki Cairo and then 11-year-old star Keisha Castle-Hughes.  I heard him tell Keisha what a wonderful job she did and how much he enjoyed the movie.  I was impressed.
