On July 24, longtime Major League pitcher and current Minnesota Twins broadcaster Bert Blyleven was officially inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. On his fourteenth attempt, the Baseball Writers Association of America finally put forth enough votes to ensure that the 287-game-winner will forever be immortalized in baseball’s most sacred shine.

Always known for his kindness and concern for fans, Blyleven provided a huge thrill for a group of seniors, in the days since returning to the Twin Cities.

Last week, Blyleven and his wife were sitting down to a meal at the Good Day Café in Golden Valley, Minnesota. The popular dining spot is located five miles west of Target Field, the Twins home ballpark.

According to iFollowSports sources, the Hall of Famer took notice of a group of senior ladies, patronizing the restaurant in celebration of one of their birthdays. Blyleven came over to say hello and was surprised to learn that all of the ladies were sisters.

The two-time World Series champion grew so impressed with the charming group of sisters, he offered them tickets, near the broadcast booth, for an upcoming Twins home game.

Blyleven also made it known that he would be taking care of the family’s transportation to and from downtown Minneapolis, on the day of the selected game.

To say the least, the group of ladies, most notably the birthday girl, was overjoyed by the generosity of the legendary ballplayer.  What a birthday and what a guy!
