A week after the Pittsburgh Steelers were bounced from the AFC Playoffs by the Denver Broncos, Steelers legend Hines Ward made his way to Los Angeles for an appearance on NFL Network.
Jim L. Mora (aka Jim Mora Jr.) was recently hired as the new head football coach at UCLA. The 50-year-old former Falcons and Seahawks boss was brought to Westwood in hopes of revitalizing a program that has lagged behind cross-town rival USC for many years.
Last Saturday, Ward’s and Mora’s paths crossed at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza hotel in Los Angeles, per the above iFollowSports.com original video.
Ward was most likely staying at the luxury property during his NFL Network stint, as it is located just four miles north of the network’s Culver City studio. NFL Network analyst/Cowboys great Michael Irvin was also spotted at the hotel on Saturday night.
Mora was at the hotel hosting several potential UCLA recruits, as well as their families. The Century Plaza is located two miles south of UCLA’s Westwood campus.
Ward and Mora spotted each other and immediately stopped to socialize. The two men have spent a combined 38 years in the NFL fraternity, so this almost certainly was not the first time they have been in the same location. In fact, the pair lived in the Atlanta area for three years when Mora was the coach of the Falcons. Ward makes his offseason residence in an Atlanta suburb.
