Being in the radio industry, it's pretty exciting to be able to sometimes meet artists. But I can't ever remember being more anxious to meet the father of an artist than I was in July of 2006.

As of today, I think it's safe to call Brooke Hogan a "one hit wonder." She had a moderately successful single called "About Us" featuring Paul Wall. In support of that song, the label arranged a few meet-and-greet dinners arround the country for radio station PDs and MDs to get to know the artist.

So when I was invited to take part in a San Francisco event, I was debating whether or not to take the 3 hour drive up north. It was only after the label rep said, "Oh, and Hulk will be there, too" that I immediately made up my mind that I'd definitely be there.

I arrived in the bay along with my then-fiance, and headed straight to the restaurant. After an hour or so of waiting at the bar, we then sat at a table just before Brooke and Hulk Hogan walked in.

And they weren't alone.

This was at the time that the VH1 reality show, "Hogan Knows Best" was at its peak, so they had a swarm of TV execs and cameramen surrounding our dining area. We even had to sign waivers in case they used footage for the show.

After we ate an over-priced meal, it was time to meet the celebs. My fiance and I walked over to Brooke first, talked about the single, her outfit, Paul Wall, and the show. She was extremely nice.

Then, we headed toward the Hulkster. Being a life-long WWE fan and bonafide Hulkamanic, I was a little nervous, but even more excited to meet a legend.

And he couldn't have been more friendly and talkative. I asked him about the next time he'd be in the ring, his thoughts about WWE CEO Vince McMahon ("We have a pretty strange relationship"), and just told him what a big fan I was. He opened his phone to show us photos and videos of his son, Nick, racing cars and asked us about our relationship.

We told Hogan we were engaged and he was quick to offer "the best advice."

"Have all the fun you can before you have kids."

It really was good advice, and we happily followed it.

Who knew the biggest name in wrestling would be offering me marriage advice? Crazy.

I really wish HIS marriage worked out better for him.
