This man has two number 1 singles under his belt, so I thought it might be a good time to blog about him.

Since Goom Radio was (and still is) up-and-coming, we received a lot of the up-and-coming talent, as well.  Enter Jason Derulo.

Right off the bat, Jason was one of the most friendly people I've ever encountered.  Not only that, the boy was DRIVEN.  He knew (and still knows) what it takes to get your music played on radio stations - lots of interviews, spilling your guts, answering a lot of the same questions, and doing whatever the radio station asked.  "Whatcha Say" was just entering the Top 40 and Jason was "trying to put a face with the song."

Jason told us the inspiration of the song (turns out it's about his brother and his girlfriend.  They are now happily married), how it felt to make the Imogen Heap song, "Hide and Seek", famous on pop radio, and his background.  Turns out that he has been writing and dancing professionally for years - and he is only 20 years old!

After the interview, I asked him if he could do a celebrity playlist where he would introduce 10 songs.  He did the same introduction for EVERY song, where he sang "Jason Deruuuuuuuuulo".  Needless to say the production people were quite sick of it by the time they finished editing.

I feel as though Jason has a bright future ahead of him.  It also doesn't hurt that Lady GaGa had him open for her when Kid Cudi left the tour.  When I saw him perform at the GaGa show, he was absolutely amazing.  His vocals were on and his dancing was hot.  It's great to see young talent working hard for the things they deserve.
