Jay-Z came in to the Z100 studios to promote his album, Kingdom Come, as well as his new single "Show Me What You Got." I was never a huge Jay-Z (which is weird considering I'm born and raised in NYC), however the moment he walked in, I was just starstruck. Besides the fact that he was incredibly tall, he just had an aura that said he was a legend.
Jay goes on air, talks up his new album and song, and introduces the track. During a commercial break, he stops to ask us why Z100 wasn't playing Beyonce's track, "Ring the Alarm". At the time, Beyonce and Jay-Z were not an "official" couple, just tabloid speculation. This question forced me to raise my head and pay close attention to what he was going to say/do next.
After one of the DJs explained to him the reasons why it was not yet added to the station's playlist, Jay-Z got mildly upset and started defending the song and talking about what an amazing talent Beyonce is.
After, we took a few pictures with some employees. When my turn came up, he threw up the Roca symbol. I joined in. Too bad all my friends tell me, "You look like such a TOOL with the Roca symbol next to Jay-Z." Funny thing is, they're right.
