I saw many members of the Minnesota Twins in Anaheim, including the iconic Joe Mauer.  Joe was walking out of the Doubletree Hotel with fellow Minnesotan Pat Neshek. The two of them, Denard Span and Jason Kubel were all boarding a shuttle to take the short drive to Angel Stadium. 

Mauer might be the most down-to-earth sports superstar ever.  Mr. $184 million was carrying his own bags, void of any kind of entourage, except for Neshek I guess.  A hotel employee came up to say hello, Joe smiled and said “thanks man, take care.” 

With his movie star looks and his incredible ability, Joe could be so cocky and arrogant if he wanted.  Instead, he acts like one of the guys, both with his teammates and with everyone else.  The Twins are lucky to have him.  I wish he made more than just one trip to Southern California this baseball season.
