In March 2004, living in Honolulu, we got the exciting news that the Osbourne family would be heading to Hawaii for a taping session (they were still doing the show) and some r n r... Working in radio, we'd heard a tip off that the Osbournes were getting to HNL at a certain time, on a certain flight. It was a nice bit of advance news; without it, the picture with Jack would not have been possible.
With the advance tip off that on a particular night, we were to go there and be waiting for this incoming flight, several of us drove over to the Honolulu International Airport. It was approximately 10p or so at night. I was hoping we could get IDs, maybe speak with some of the Osbournes. While someone was parking or trying to park, I went in with one other person, searching for any trace of them. It was all pretty funny, as I look back on it -- I just wish when we found them I'd gotten Jack to do the ID...
Anyway, we find a bunch of British people who look like Americans chatting amidst the baggage carousels of incoming baggage. At some point, the Osbourne nanny -- melissa? What was that blond girls name? She was there... We got our pic with her... Then Tony the assistant who takes care of Ozzy showed up. We chatted and he informed me Ozzy and Sharon went out back doors and straight to their hotel (The Kahala, way out of the city and super chic at the time, still the Kahala Mandarin). Then Jack shows up, and rather than be a complete a-hole and push for the ID, I am happy just getting a picture with him, and we spend about that much time together. He is quick, doesn't really want to be bothered, but does it. I thank him, and off they go to their waiting caravan of enormous sport utility vehicles. Some of this trip was featured on their show.
