This week, New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez organized and orchestrated a series of workouts for his locked out teammates from Gotham. “Jets West” took place at Mission Viejo High School in Mission Viejo, California. Sanchez graduated from the Orange County football power in 2004. Mission Viejo head coach Bob Johnson and assistant coach Rob Johnson, the former USC and NFL QB, were on hand to assist with the series of workouts.  Nick Sanchez, Mark’s father and other members of the Sanchez family were also in attendance. The list of participating players included prominent names like: LaDainian Tomlinson, Braylon Edwards, Dustin Keller, Mark Brunell and Greg McElroy.

The practice involved a series of stretching exercises and the running of choreographed plays, led by Sanchez, who was working off a prepared collection of notes.  Fans and onlookers were allowed to view the festivities from the stadium bleachers.

The gathering also included a delicious lunch, unique to Sanchez’s Southern California roots.  In-N-Out Burger catered the event via a fully equipped cooking truck parked just off the field. This was the players’ reward after running around under the bright sunny skies of an unseasonably hot California day.

Take a look at this original ifollosports.com video clip showing the Jets franchise QB picking up his notes and getting set to begin the football portion of the practice. Jets fans are heard in the background speculating as to what other players they hope will be in attendance.
