Friday night, the Minnesota Lynx won their first-ever WNBA championship, after completing a three-game sweep of the Atlanta Dream. Tuesday, the Lynx were honored with a championship parade in downtown Minneapolis. A reported 15,000 people came out to celebrate Minnesota’s first pro championship since 1991.
The atmosphere was lively, with exuberant Lynx fans very happy to cheer on the champs. Lynx forward Maya Moore, who was the first pick in the 2011 WNBA Draft, was the most popular player at the celebration. Minnesota was one of the worst teams in the WNBA last season. This year, Moore won Rookie of the Year and helped lead the Lynx to the title. As can be seen in this ifollosports.com original video, the UCONN alum was in very high demand.
Here is another ifollosports.com original video of Moore interacting with Lynx fans during last month’s fan appreciation night.
