Maya Moore is a rookie forward for the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA. To this point, Moore is best known for her years with the UCONN Huskies, where she earned Big East Player of the Year honors three times. Moore also led her team to two national championships and was named the 2010 NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player. The Missouri native was a member of the 2009-2010 undefeated Huskies team that went 39-0.
After her stellar college career, the Minnesota Lynx selected Moore with the first pick of the 2011 WNBA Draft. Moore averaged 13.2 PPG, 4.6 RPG and 2.6 APG during her rookie regular season, winning the WNBA Rookie of the Year award.
The Lynx finished with the best record in the WNBA, making the playoffs for the first time since 2004.
Friday, Minnesota hosts the San Antonio Silver Stars in Game 1 of the WNBA playoffs.
Last Thursday night’s home game vs. the Chicago Sky was fan appreciation night, as it was the club’s final regular season home game. After the game ended, Lynx players stayed to sign autographs for fans.
