I've been a Celine Dion fan since childhood (yeah, cue abuse) and in November 2007 I received the opportunity to attend a Radio City Christmas tree taping featuring Celine at NBC Studios in Rockefeller Center.
After the performance, my friend and I had to go to the bathroom really really bad. I mean bad. The taping took over an hour and Celine herself was over an hour late getting there. So we hastily made our way downstairs to the Rock Center promenade public ladies room and well I'll leave the gory details out.
However, what happened next is nothing less than magical. Walking out of the bathroom, I bemusedly told my friend that our chances of catching Celine on her way out to the car were shot now that we'd delayed ourselves. Next thing I know, my jaw hits the ground and I do a double take. Right in front of me sits Celine, her bodyguard and personal stylist at one of those metal cafeteria tables...doing absolutely nothing.
It took all my courage to muster up enough of a voice to ask her if it would be okay for us to come over and say hello. Amused by this question, she agreed. Hey, I didn't want to just barge over and be like "OMG you're Celine Dion!" She was as nice as I'd imagined her to be and patiently sat and chatted with us for a few minutes, never rushing us and complying with all of our autograph and photo taking requests even though she was clearly quite tired from doing two early morning tapings that day.
Every time I'm in Rock Center, I always make sure to visit that table... for good luck :)
