Sometimes, you run into "semi-celebrities" and don't give them a second thought. Sometimes, it's because they'll never be big stars. But sometimes, they go on to become household names.

Before that MTV show Newlyweds made Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey into mega-stars, they were both just kind of under the radar music artists.

I actually met them both back in 2003 before the first season of their show went on the air...while the show was being filmed!

At a record label event in Los Angeles, there was a get-together planned at a local restaurant. Apparently, it was Jessica Simpson's album release party for a CD I can't remember.

As we entered the building, there were signs everywhere saying something like, "there's a chance you'll be filmed for MTV", which I thought was cool. At the time, I never would have guessed they were making a show about Nick and Jessica.

Later, I introduced myself to Jessica Simpson and she was all smiles and giggles, a very nice chick.

By the way, no footage of me ever made it to the show. Bummer.
