On November 19, the Los Angeles Lakers were in Minneapolis to play the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves had been playing well, so for the first time in a while, there was excitement for a game. A few hours before the game, I went by the Target Center to see what was happening. There was a nice vibe with so many fans from both teams looking for and selling tickets. Also, lots of people looking for autographs, especially from the Lakers. There were so many Lakers fans in a road city, which is very far from LA. It just shows how popular they are and that they have so many fans in every city.
Then, I happened to recognize Joel Meyers the play by play announcer for the Lakers on KCAL and Fox Sports West, who was walking right by me. He was walking with someone who I did not recognize but a Lakers fan standing next to me said it was Stu Lantz, a former NBA player and current Lakers color analyst. The fan asked if he could get a picture with Meyers and Lantz. He asked if I could take the picture and I did. Then, I asked if I could get a picture with them as well, so the fan took my picture. The announcers could not have been nicer, Meyers even made sure my picture turned out before they went into the arena. I was glad I went by the Target Center before the game and unexpectedly met two famous broadcasters and got a picture!
