Mike Conley is the starting point guard for the Memphis Grizzlies, in his fifth NBA season. Conley, who is a key player on the Western Conference’s fifth seeded team, averages 12.9 points and 6.7 assists per game.
Conley is perhaps best known for his days playing alongside Greg Oden. The guard and center famously were high school teammates at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, before attending Ohio State together for the 2006-2007 season. That season, the Buckeyes put together a 35-4 record, losing in the NCAA Championship game to a star studded Florida team.
After the conclusion of their freshman year in Columbus, both Conley and Oden entered the 2007 NBA Draft. Many basketball fans remember the Trailblazers dilemma of whether to select Oden or Texas’ Kevin Durant.
We all know how that one turned out.
Conley was the fourth overall pick in 2007 and as it turned out, has been a better NBA player than the injury ridden Oden.
Mike Conley Jr. is the son of triple jump gold and silver medalist Mike Conley Sr.
The above iFolloSports.com original video shows Conley signing autographs for a group of fans in Minneapolis on Tuesday. This took place outside of the Graves 601 Hotel in downtown Minneapolis, a few hours before the Grizzlies 91-84 victory over the Timberwolves.
Here is another iFolloSports.com original video of Conley interacting with Minnesota NBA fans earlier this season, at the very same location.
Conley appears to be as solid of a guy as he is a point guard.
