Just uttering the name Jonas Brothers can send teenage girls into a frenzy.  More often than not the younger audience tends to be trend setters. 

Some already knew the name Jonas Brothers from the Disney Channel & Hannah Montana.  At the time, not many radio programmers thought to skim a few channels down from MTV to find the next big thing. 

It wasn't until 2008 and a big Grammy Performance with their song "Burnin' Up" and a win in the Breakthru Artist category for many to take notice of the biggest pop rock boy band since we heard from the likes of Nsync or the Backstreet Boys.

As a jock with a new night show in 2006, I was really trying to make an impact.  When I was told I was having in studio guests The Jonas Brothers, I replied "who?"  After having these guys on the air for nearly 5 minutes the phones were jammed with fans not only from the U.S. but around the globe.  We were being streamed and recorded from our webcam, it was insane.  What I originally planned as an intro of the band to the audience and playing of their single "Mandy" at the time, turned into almost 30 minutes of fun on air banter.

Sometimes it's the ones you don't plan on that shock you as going well on air.  That's why as an interviewer, it is always important to treat each artist the same.  Even if you don't know who they are, you never know who they could become.

Incidentally, we tried to get them on the air after the Grammy's in 2008, we were told, yeah good luck.  Nice kids though.
