Saturday afternoon, iFolloSports.com was at the Mall of America, in the Twin Cities suburb of Bloomington, as Minnesota Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic made an appearance and signed autographs at Nickelodeon Universe (the mall’s indoor amusement park).
Ironically, this event occurred in the midst of rumors of a blockbuster trade, sending Pekovic and Derrick Williams to the Los Angeles Lakers, in exchange for Pau Gasol. For now, the proposed deal has been publically squashed by Timberwolves general manager David Kahn.
Pekovic, a native of Montenegro, is in his third NBA season and has established himself as a very solid man in the middle. Last year served as his breakout campaign, when he averaged 13.9 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. So far in 2012-2013, Pekovic has posted similar stats, tallying 13.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest.
Pek’s good play and very large 6-11, 290-pound frame has made him quite popular with Timberwolves fans. Above is iFolloSports.com original video of Pekovic signing at the event, which happened to draw a very large crowd.
Wolves fans can also check out this iFolloSports.com original story, featuring Pekovic signing autographs at a local Twin Cities grocery store last March. It is amazing how massive of a human being this man truly is in person.
