In 2000, I was very lucky to get to meet Ozzy and Sharon on two back to back days. It really started with a possible phone interview w/Ozzy, that was blown off because he could not wake up. Despite his assistant Tony trying many times to wake him, or at least saying as much in repeated calls, we never got our interview, and to accommdate it getting done, we were going to go there and record it on site.

It was July 2000 and Ozzfest at the Tweeter Center. I was there both days starting at 10am or so and until midnight broadcasting a few breaks live in the afternoon on a Boston classic rock station, and attempting to record the interview w/Ozzy, and if possible, speak with Sharon.

A guy from a record label, as I recall, approached our little broadcast area in the backstage section of the venue. We had a huge tent over several couches and in the pictures you get a sense of the location pretty well.

When I realized our sister station WBCN had the label guy bringing Sharon over, I was able to ask her if she would speak with ZLX too, and she kindly did.

She was with a writer from a major magazine or publication - I forget which one... a pretty young girl who was taking notes and interviewing her for a story that ran not long after this I recall...

Sharon was considerate, and agreed to speak. It was a live interview, I believe, and a short five minute chat about the Osbourne family, then still unexploited on TV or otherwise, and at the moment, a growing phenomenon, especially with the amount of dogs, friends of the kids, and other hangers-on making their entourage quite large.

After speaking she posed for pics, and that was it.

She was very nice, polite, sweet, gentle, treated me professionally, had a motherly, warm quality, and was entirely pleasant. I requested an interview with her husband, and said something about how she had just spoke to me, seen how I conducted myself, was trying to do the make-up thing from yesterday's canceled phoner, and she said she would make sure over the two days I got some time with Ozzy. Keeping her word, I was able to record an interview with one of the biggest stars in the world the next afternoon, in an unforgettable dressing room interview you can read about in the next ifollo story!
