First off, as a huge Minnesota Vikings fan, I am ecstatic that Randy Moss has come back to the Vikings.  The team needs a WR bad and a motivated Moss is as good as it gets.      My Moss story took place way back in his rookie season of 1998.  For those readers familiar with the Twin Cities, you may remember how complicated the intersection of HWY 169 and 494 used to be, right at the border of Eden Prairie and Bloomington.  Minnesotans also know that this cluster is a block from Winter Park, the Vikings’ offices and practice facility.    The Vikings summer training camp takes place in Mankato, Minnesota, which is located south on 169, about 65 miles from Winter Park.  In July of ’98, the day before the start of training camp, I was sitting at the above intersection when a guy popped out of the driver’s door of a car and ran back to the car right in front of me to quickly discuss something prior to the light turning green.  At closer look, I realized that it was Randy Moss who had apparently joined the group of people who used to get confused when navigating this stretch of road. It was clear that Moss was seeking directions because both he and the probable other Vikings he was conferring with were pointing fingers trying to figure out the geography. After this brief moment, Moss ran back to his car and headed the proper direction south towards Mankato.  It’s funny to think back to a time when cell phones were in their infancy and people, including the great Randy Moss, had to run out of cars to communicate with those in their caravan.  Back then, Moss was just a rookie trying to figure out his way around his new home.  Now days, he’s a future Hall of Famer.   Welcome back Randy!  It’s great to have you back in Minnesota.
