Regis Philbin was at Disneyworld when my son was a finalist in the Coppertone Kid's Contest.  He was there as Master of Ceremonies for the Awards Ceremony.  There were 10 boys and 10 girls there as finalists, along with their families.

Our son was (in our minds) the cutest kid by far but he wasn't the most well-behaved and it became clear not long into the 4 day event that he was just too unpredictable a kid to win the prize and go on a national tour.  At the finalist ceremony, there was a giant cake to celebrate the prize sitting in the middle of the hot son, slowly melting, and as soon as our boy (then 3) say it, it was all we could do to hold him back.  After his on-screen interview with Regis, where our son admitted he loved bugs and especially bed bugs, we were waiting on the sidelines.  When Regis announced the winner's name, our son broke free and ran onto the stage first.  He ran right past Regis and right to the cake where he proceeded to bury his hands in the melted frosting.  Regis just laughed and made a joke. 

His presence and easy manner made the whole event nice for everyone.
