Four days after his season came to an abrupt conclusion, Los Angeles Lakers forward Ron Artest was in attendance at the “Samsung Infuse 4G for AT&T Launch Event” Thursday night in Hollywood. He was accompanied by a female guest. Hip hop artist Nicki Minaj performed at the gathering which took place at the Los Angeles branch of Milk Studios. Other attending celebrities included: Jennifer Hudson, David Arquette, Kelly Rowland and Olivia Munn.
Artest has experienced a very interesting last several weeks. The successful rehabilitation of his once tainted image appeared to be complete after he was awarded the J. Walker Kennedy Citizenship Award. This honor was bestowed on Artest by the Pro Basketball Writers Association for his advocacy of mental-health related issues. Artest’s image has since regressed a bit after he was suspended for one game during the Lakers 4-0 series loss to the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of the NBA playoffs. Artest received this punishment after aggressively fouling guard J.J. Barea during Game 2 at Staples Center. Last June, Artest was credited for being an integral member of a Lakers’ championship team. Now, Artest is receiving a good deal of blame for LA’s untimely exit from the postseason.
Life is always fasinating for the man from Queensbridge.
