New York Yankees ace CC Sabathia is no stranger to the charms of the Golden State. After growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area and recently building a brand new home in Southern California, the big lefty is clearly comfortable with the stops on this current road trip, which have included Oakland and Anaheim.

Friday morning, Sabathia was seen arriving back at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach, California in his massive black Cadillac Escalade. This Orange County property is the Yankees’ hotel of choice, when taking on the Los Angeles Angels, at Angel Stadium in nearby Anaheim. 

One of the first people he interacted with was an older Yankees fan, who happened to be staying at the hotel by coincidence. He told Sabathia that he was a lifelong fan of the team and wished them the best of luck for the remainder of the season. Sabathia was really friendly and appreciative for the gentleman’s support.  

A couple minutes later, Sabathia and relief pitcher Joba Chamberlain continued the conversation by saying hello to three middle aged female fans, who had traveled from Las Vegas to Southern California for the games. Both players thanked the fans for coming, with Chamberlain asking the women “did they win” while in Vegas.

Prior to the Yankees 2:45 PM charter for Angel Stadium, Sabathia was escorted to the bus by one of the Yankees’ traveling security detail. Take a look at the photo of these two giants walking towards the team’s transportation.
