It was Coeur d'Alene, ID in the summer of 1991 and The Scorpions were touring in support of the Crazy World album and the wildly hit single, "Wind Of Change".
I'd travelled with the band for almost two weeks and we just got back from Anchorage Alaska for a show at the Spokane Raceway Park in Spokane, WA. We had a day off before carrying on to Montana, and the rock station KEZE invited us for a private cruise on beautiful Lake Coeur d'Alene.
No biz, strictly fun with a quick stop to say hello via megaphone to a bunch of fans on the shore. The Scorpions lead singer, Klaus Meine was blown away by the views of the countryside, the mountains and perhaps most of all the women sailing by flashing themselves!
The important thing to Klaus was to delve in to the many things unique to wherever they went. It was salmon in Seattle, king crab legs in Anchorage, roses in Portland, and today on the lake, the many real estate opportunities in Coeur d'Alene.
I remember wanting to talk about rock and roll and all he wanted to talk about was moving to a mansion on the lake! Many locals were there to fill him in on the ins and outs of Northern Idaho real estate, I never found out if he bought anything...
