My mom did a show with Adam in 2005 called The Ten Commandments. It was done at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. I met Adam for the first time when he came to see my mom's one woman show during rehearsals. Mom put him on the mike and he sang a bit of her song, and i was just blown away. Mom brought him over afterward and introduced him to me, my sister and my dad. I thought he was the coolest person mom had ever worked with. I started asking to go with mom to rehearsals whenever i could when they moved into the theater. I watched every one of Adam's performances, and i just loved everything he did. I thought he was the most dynamic performer and i couldnt wait to see how the audience responded to him when the show opened. Him and mom became pretty good friends throughout the course of the show, and even though the show didnt turn out so great, the audience loved his performance every single night. I was so proud to say that i had watched the process and seen the show get up on his feet. Our whole family was so excited when he got on Idol, we knew he would go far. He is such a humble and down to earth person, and has so much talent, we felt that he could have deserved anything better then to win, and were sad when he came in second. But i know he will be around for years to come.

Here's a clip of Adam singing "Is Anybody Listening?" in that show:
I can't help but wonder how Val Kilmer's performance compared, since he was billed as the star of the musical...
great perspective on Adam, that you don't always hear from mainstream media
