Here in Orlando, FL Disney does something really cool & different than many other high school senior ever experience.  It's something called Grad Nite.  Essentially they close the park one night and turn it over to the seniors where they get themed dances and performances from a major artist.  Last year was Katy Perry.

Now being on the radio, I've had the opportunity to talk to artists, celebrities etc.  Most are on their way to fame or coming with a new project.  It's very rare you get to talk to an artist at in their prime because they are usually so busy.  So when I heard we had Katy Perry coming by the studios before Grad Nite, I was stoked.

We discussed her tour among other things.  She was super down to earth witty and sweet.  Who knew what an idiot I would've made of myself next.

Sunday after she was at Grad Nite, we were at Epcot.  And I happened to see Katy just walking around trying to be inconscpicuous.  Instead of being professional and either ignoring her presence or just saying hi real quietly, I kinda just yelled out "Hey look everyone it's Katy Perry." 

Now, mind you I interviewed her a day earlier and didn't expect her to remember me, well I was right. She was walking with handlers who showed her throughout the park, helping her cut the lines on rides so she could ride them before the rest of us.  Even though noone seemed to so much as bat an eyelash that Katy Perry was there, (I mean afterall we have a fair share of celebrities who frequent this city) they hurried her away and she even turned down a cute little girl for an autograph because they were rushing her away.  I didn't have to be dumb and point her out, but if my favorite celebrity was standing within 5 feet from me, dang it I'd want to know about it.

Bottom line:  I guess I ruined it for everyone.  FAIL!  I've learned if you see your favorite celebrity in public, to just take photos with my iphone and move on with my day.  Katy, sorry for embaressing you!!
