3.5.10 - How We Met Taylor Swift" - Watch The Documentary
Back in September 2009, my friends and I went to see Taylor Swift in Dallas on the first leg of the “Fearless Tour.” By far…one the best concerts EVER. Well, about a month later, they announced the second leg of the tour. I knew I was moving to Orlando for college in January, so I wanted to buy seats for the Orlando show. My buddy Justin said he wanted to fly out and see a concert with me sometime. The morning they announced the tour, I called him up and asked if he wanted to fly out for Taylor Swift in March 2010. He said he was down, so we got ready to buy the tickets. We really wanted floor seats, but those are near impossible to get these days. While I was buying the seats, the only pair I could get was in the lower level, right above the floor. A little disappointed, I bought the seats. I called him and he said that was fine, he would still fly out.
After reviewing the seating chart, I realized something. Taylor has a set in her show where she disappears in the crowd and plays a set in the aisle between two sections. Well…I was 95% sure we were in that section, on that aisle…until we got to the arena six months later. We were on the wrong side of the aisle! Unaware of this, we stayed up all night the night before watching Britney Spears videos and making t-shirts with sharpie and glittery paint. We didn’t finish them until the next morning after we woke up. We got to the arena about four hours early and began to talk to some fans. We got inside, and that’s when we realized we were on the wrong side of the aisle. So, we were sitting there and this nice lady taps us on the shoulder and tells us that she has some friends that they wanted to get seats with but weren't able to. She pointed us out to them and they waved. The lady asked if we were willing to trade with them....they were on the other side of the aisle and they were on the edge!! Of COURSE we said yes, we were beaming. They hadn't seen the show before, and didn't know why we were so freaked out. Anyways, we switched seats. So in the second song I'm taping it on my Flip Video and this big light comes in my face, I thought I was getting busted for taping. Well it turned out to be a huge camera, we were screaming and dancing and singing to them...so we think we're going to be on the DVD! YES. So then...the lights go out and the doors shut above us. We know what’s about to happen, and no one else does. Taylor's silhouette appears and we start shaking. After she plays half of the song, she begins to walk down and hug people, and she sort of walked past me and my heart sank but I kept screaming her name. She turned around, looked me in the eye and said "hey girl!" and gave me a huge hug. She gave Justin a hug. We were shaking! So, she walks away obviously to go hug other people. She stops and completely TURNS AROUND and hands Justin her BRACELET from her wrist!!! At that point we were shrieking (it was beyond screaming). By the way I got this all on video and just finished editing the documentary...you'll need to see it! But, it gets better. During the closer, we were jamming of course and we thought life couldn't get any better. I'm taping it on my camera again, and then someone else appears in the aisle. I thought I was getting kicked out (again). She pulled us out of the aisle and she had a headset and this envelope. She told us that Taylor sent them to find us because she personally wanted to meet us and hang out with us after the show. We would get to hang out with her and get pictures and stuff. She gave us instructions, and after the show security would escort us backstage to Taylor’s private party. At this point we were about to pass out. Literally, we grabbed each other and almost died. So, after the show we did what they told us and after about seven thousand security checkpoints we got to go to the private "T-Party Room," a room that not even security is allowed to enter. We walk in there and wait for a few minutes...and then Taylor came in! She gave us huge hugs and we talked and ate pizza (free pizza, mind you) with Taylor and she graciously took pictures with us and signed autographs. We told her how we had seen her twice and how Justin flew from Dallas to be here. We also had tickets for the Dallas show the next week, so we told her how I was flying into Dallas to see the show AGAIN for a third time! She was so humble and could not have been more sweet or attentive. Best friends, much? We love you Taylor!
