If you’ve ever made the assumption that Tony Stewart is a bit of an arrogant jerk, wow you’re very intuitive. I don’t have a photo, or the original interview, I was told to get rid of it. Honestly I only aired it once, and I was afraid I’d get sued.

Normally I don’t like writing anything negative about a celeb, but I enjoy NASCAR, but I don’t really have that much respect for the drivers, anybody can do it, that’s why there are so many fathers, sons, and brothers in the sport.

I was working for W4 Country 102.9 in Ann Arbor, and our station aired the races on Sundays, we also offered comprehensive coverage of Michigan International Speedway, that’s how I ended up with Tony, and a few other reporters, sitting down to a gourmet lunch, in MIS’ new conference center. I always ask very simple questions, like how do you like the track at MIS, how’s the season going, etc. none of the,  “what degree do you set your wedge at” kind of questions…honestly who cares about that stuff.

At the end of the luncheon I wrote a few liners down, so Tony could then record them for our station, you know things like, “Hi I’m Tony Stewart, and you are listening to NASCAR, on W4 Country.” Well…Tony couldn’t read my writing, (it was clear), but what ever, so he tried it and flubbed, and asked “who the @#$! wrote this?” he tried again and since he was flustered, and a bunch of staff was standing around watching, he flubbed again. He then threw a couple more swear words my way, and finally did a quick, bad, version, and said he was done.

I played the sound bite on the air, with him swearing at me, I bleeped out the bad parts. But after airing it some of my bosses, suggested I get rid of the tape, I did.
