That is what I was wondering when I was about to interview Dylan McDermott.  Dylan of course tied for 6th in 1999, for GQ's Man of The Year issue.  He is noted for his style and rugged good looks.  So of course when meeting a guy with these kind of credentials and following, you wonder - "Is it all hype?"

I was flown to Los Angeles by TNT in July 2009 as part of a press junket to meet and get a Q&A with the cast of their new detective show "Dark Blue."

During the press junket, we had to make sure we had watched the pilot episode and discussed te show in anticipation of talking about it on our radio shows.  This was a junket of the more intimate persuasion as we were able to mingle with the cast before and after the Q&A session took place.

At first glance, Dylan is imposing.  He exudes a vibe of confidence.  His bed-head style hair is messy enough to say I didn't care to organize my hair and while at it, didn't bother to shave either with his 5 o'clock shadow.  That's all before realizing Dylan was wearing a leather jacket in Los Angeles in the middle of July.  I had formed my preconcieved notions as many would face to face.

Once into the interview, you realized that McDermott was very passionate about the project and had undergone rigerous preparation even consulting with former undercover detectives.  While speaking to Dylan you learn the confidence isn't just an act and that this guy is for real.  He had a firm hand shake and was all smiles and gave me everything I required audio wise and was even nice enough to pose for another photo after my digital camera messed up the first.
