Being in radio, being starstruck isn't an option.  It is your job to ask the questions of each celebrity that every fan wants to know.  Your job is to be knowledgable about the artist and make that artist feel comfortable about confiding in you.  I almost look at interviewing as forging a friendship with someone new.  Your goal is to find out more than the surface and first impression ever could.

I'll admit it, I am a big Jay-Z fan.  There's something about his style of performing that I just dig.  Maybe it's the swagger, maybe it's just Beyonce...

When Jay-Z sauntered into our studios in Philadelphia, he was definetly on the way up in his career.  It was before he owned the NBA'S New Jersey Nets, before marrying Beyonce, it was before alot of the successes he has had.  But you knew he was destined for superstardom.  Today Jay-Z tops the list of wealthiest celebrity couples.  According to Forbes he and wife Beyonce are worth an estimated $162 million.

When I got to sit and talk with Jay-Z I found he was a very humble man, we spoke on everything from his relationship with Beyonce, his Rocawear clothing line, even his love for playing Playstation and Madden, which he challenged me to.

The rewarding part of digging a celebrity and what they do, is meeting them and they are as advertised.  It makes you want to download more of their songs, purchase their clothing etc.  Jay-Z was AWESOME.  There was a point in the interview where someone from his entourage poked his head in the studio to let Jay know they had to roll to another interview.  Jay-Z shooed the person away til I was finished and even double checked to make sure I had everything I needed to make the interview sound great.  He did personalized drops saying "Hey it's Jay-Z, call my boy Stick now"...etc.
