I was at my 12 year old daughter's volleyball tournament in Salt Lake City where I saw Mr. Bailey intensely watching his daughter play as well. I told my daughter who he was and then jokingly asked her if she wanted to take a picture with him. She immediately said yes and went over to him and tapped him on the waist (which was about shoulder height for her) and asked him if she could get a picture with him. I couldn't believe how gracious and kind he was to her! He said he was watching his daughter play and asked if she could wait until there was a time out or a delay in the game so he wouldn't miss any of her play time. Sure enough, as soon as the first time out was called, he came right over to us and apologized and thanked us for waiting! Can you believe that? He thanked us!
Just as I was taking the picture of my daughter with Thurl, a little boy ran in and stood with them for the picture. Mr. Bailey laughed and said, "Whose kid is this, anyway?" Turns out, the little boy is his son.
I was so impressed that he was there supporting his daughter and was so kind to mine. She was totally impressed at what a gentleman he was. What a class act!
