Did You Watch The Emmys Live?

We have to admit there was a certain thrill knowing that so many other people were watching this fabulous Glee-inspired opening sequence at the same time we were:
In the age of DVR and On Demand, there are still some things you just can't help but want to watch live: The Superbowl, the World Series, the presidential elections, and, of course, entertainment industry awards shows. The thing about these types of events, though, is that they're not nearly as much fun to watch alone as they are with friends, or, at the very least, a bunch like-minded strangers. Which is why we love how NBC provided the simultaneous Ustream live red carpet/backstage broadcast and #Emmys Twitter feed of last night's prime time Emmy Awards on their website. Instead of taping it and watching later so we could FF through the commercials, we ended up watching the whole thing from start to finish, reading Tweets and online commentaries during the ad breaks and boring bits. Of course, with over 64,000 others viewing--and who knows how many Tweeting. True, it wasn't an actual give-and-take, but we still felt like we were part of a conversation, albeit a pretty huge one. And we couldn't help but think how cool it would be to have a smaller community to chat with while we watched.
What about you? Would you watch the next Emmys, Golden Globes, Academy Awares, Grammys, or MTV Awards live if you had an online group you could exchange comments with in real time?
