Bono Gets a Free Ride from Edmonton Oiler
By Bruce Tenen - Sun, 2011-06-05 07:00
Edmonton Oilers center Gilbert Brule stopped to pick up a hitchhiker this week and it turned out to be rock legend Bono. Bono and his assistant were walking in Vancouver, when they were caught in a rainstorm. Bono accepted a ride from Brule and later offered him backstage passes for Wednesday night's concert in Edmonton. Brule and his girlfriend sold their tickets for the Stanley Cup Finals in Vancouver and flew to Edmonton for the show. Bono told the sellout crowd that "I like people who play ice hockey--they stop for hitchhikers. I know this from experience."
