UFC impresario Dana White left Las Vegas 20 years ago and set up a boxing gym in South Boston, but returned to Sin City after an extortion attempt by a group of mobsters working for James "Whitey" Bulger. 

“They wanted $2,500, but it might as well have been $25,000,"  said White.  "I didn't have it so I went back to Vegas," added White.  

White joined up with his old friends, the Fertitta brothers, and bought the wildly successful UFC in 2001.

The 81-year-old Bulger, on the run from the FBI since the early 1990s, was finally captured in Santa Monica, California last Wednesday.
