Jeter: Yankees Least Valuable Player?
By Bruce Tenen - Tue, 2011-07-05 07:00
All-Star shortstop Derek Jeter came off the disabled list Monday, going hitless in New York’s 6-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians. Jeter remains six hits short of the 3,000 threshold, trying to become the first Yankee ever to do so. The 37-year-old Jeter will become the sixth youngest player in baseball history to reach 3,000.
During Jeter’s stint on the disabled list, New York went 14-4 and Jeter is batting only .256, with 20 RBI this season. The Yankees have actually played their best baseball minus the services of the Captain.
