Rocky Bridges is a baseball lifer, having played 10 years in the big leagues from 1951-61 and then serving as a career minor league manager and Major League coach. He is best remembered for his sense of humor and memorable quotes.
When he was managing the Phoenix Giants in the Pacific Coast League, he said of his huge rival Albuquerque: "I can't spell it, but I can smell it.”
He reportedly said about the French’s love of eating snails: "I prefer fast food."
Bridges, now 83, recently told the Los Angeles Times: "I managed, I coached, I did everything. I was like a house without toilets---I was uncanny."
