Nick Mangold’s Weightlifting Sister Heading To London

Holley Mangold makes Olympic weightlifting teamA sibling of star New York Jets center Nick Mangold just made the US Olympic team last weekend.

Holley Mangold, Nick’s sister, captured one of two spots on the women's weightlifting team, which will compete in London this summer.  She clinched her spot by lifting 319 pounds during the clean-and-jerk portion of the event.

Holley Mangold played high school varsity football in the Dayton, Ohio area and competed in shot put and discus at Ursuline College near Cleveland. Since then, she has taken up weightlifting.

Holley Mangold is 5-8 and weighs in at around 370 pounds. By comparison, brother Nick comes in at 6-4 and 307 pounds.

"I always wanted to be an Olympic athlete, but I always thought I'd get it for diving or gymnastics," explained Mangold. "I always wanted to be one of those girls, but my body just didn't work out for that, so I had to go to a different sport.”
